Description This 'photomap' displays 182 of my photographs on top of William Penn's 1687 map of Philadelphia. Although many small streets have emerged and a few major elements of the plan have been shifted, the nine east-west streets, numbered north-south streets between the Delaware and Schuykill Rivers, and general grid pattern in Center City have continued to this day. By displaying many of the photos in their respective geographic city blocks, this photomap shows how Penn's vision has developed and shaped the city.I took and positioned all of the photos. Lauren Emeritz of Pensare Design improved the graphic design.
